A concrete driveway is a long-term investment in your property — properly installed, it can last 30 years or more. At Shamblin Paving, we install new concrete driveways for homeowners across Aurora and the western Chicago suburbs, from new-construction homes to gravel conversions and added parking areas.
Homeowners tell us how much they appreciate how straightforward we are to work with. We show up when we say we will, communicate clearly through every stage of the project, and leave your property looking better than we found it. No high-pressure sales tactics, no surprise charges, just honest work, professional crews, and a team that respects your time and your home.
New Concrete Driveway Installation
Is Concrete the Right Choice for Your Property?
Concrete is a strong, long-lasting choice for homeowners who want a driveway that holds up under heavy vehicles, resists oil and chemical staining, and offers a wide range of finish options. A properly installed concrete driveway typically lasts 30 years or more and requires less ongoing maintenance than asphalt.
We design and install the driveway to fit your property, drainage, and how you actually use it. If you are weighing concrete against asphalt, our comparison page breaks down the differences in lifespan, maintenance, appearance, and cold-weather performance.
Our Process
Our concrete driveway installation includes:
- Site assessment to evaluate soil conditions, slope, and drainage
- Excavation and removal of topsoil, vegetation, or any unsuitable material
- Grading the subgrade and compacting a high-quality aggregate base for long-term stability
- Forming the driveway and installing steel reinforcement using rebar or wire mesh
- Pouring high-quality concrete at proper thickness
- Finishing the surface with your choice of texture
- Proper placement of control joints to reduce cracking from seasonal expansion and contraction
We also offer decorative options like broom finishes, borders, and exposed aggregate for a clean, custom look.

Gravel-to-Concrete Driveway Installation
When to Convert From Gravel to Concrete
Gravel driveways are inexpensive up front but require constant maintenance — refilling washouts, regrading after heavy rain, dealing with dust, tracked stones, and ruts that always come back. Converting to concrete eliminates almost all of that ongoing work and gives you a smooth, durable, easy-to-clean surface.
Existing gravel can often serve as part of the new aggregate base after grading and supplementing, but soil conditions, depth, and drainage all need to be evaluated first.
The Process
Our gravel-to-concrete conversion includes:
- Evaluating the existing gravel depth, compaction, and drainage
- Excavating where needed and removing organic or unsuitable material
- Supplementing and re-grading the aggregate base, then compacting to spec
- Correcting slope and drainage so water flows away from the home
- Forming the driveway and installing steel reinforcement
- Pouring, finishing, and placing control joints in fresh concrete
New Construction and Driveway Additions
We work directly with homeowners and general contractors on new-construction concrete driveways for newly built homes, as well as adding new sections to existing properties — extra parking pads, RV or boat aprons, garage access drives, and side-yard extensions. We coordinate with the site grading and drainage already in place, and tie new concrete cleanly into existing pavement, garage aprons, and streets.
Other Driveway Options
If you have an existing driveway that is starting to fail rather than a clean lot to install on, we offer several other services:
- Concrete Driveway Replacement — Full tear-out and reinstall when the existing concrete has failed beyond repair.
- Asphalt Driveway Installation — A faster-to-install, easier-to-repair alternative for homeowners who want a flexible surface built for freeze-thaw cycles.
